History

Athletic Evolution opened its doors during the summer of 2005. Founder and President, Erik Kaloyanides, had a passion to help teach athletes to train their bodies with a single purpose in mind in an intense, safe, and fun environment. With this in mind, Erik created a facility unlike any other in this area. “We want people to feel like when they enter Athletic Evolution, they felt like they are entering a campus where everything they are looking for is at their disposal. We understand that a level of convenience is needed to help each family schedule all of their activities into one day. We want Athletic Evolution to be considered a 1-stop shop for all of our customer’s athletic training needs.”

When Athletic Evolution first opened its doors, it was comprised of turf and athletic training equipment. The turf is a neat story in itself. “I had asked my strength coach up at Syracuse if he could point me in the right direction for where I could buy turf. He put me in contact with the manager of the Carrier Dome, and in a case of perfect of timing, Syracuse was in the process of replacing their old turf with new turf. I was told all I had to do was fly up to Syracuse and drive it home. Unbeknown to me, when I arrived they had the end zone that read SYRACUSE on it ready for me to take back to Woburn. When you look at how many amazing athletes and pro bowl NFL players (i.e. Donovan McNabb, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney) have played on that turf, it is truly an amazing piece of history.”

Over the past three years, AE has grown from a strength and conditioning facility to a miniature sportsplex. “We have been for years now trying to make AE a facility for all of our athletes needs. We feel like we have finally accomplished our goal with the additions of 4 batting cages and a miniature real 30’x60’ ice rink.”

The best news happened most recent when on August 22, 2008 AE realized its dream of having the biggest name in sports, NIKE, made a commitment to the vision and current state of the company by teaming up with AE and making them the NIKE SPARQ training center of the North East. Nate Myers, head of the SPARQ trainers network, was recently quoted as saying; “Erik and his staff are some of the best performance coaches in the nation as well as our preferred regional representative for NIKE and SPARQ in the New England market because of the results that their athletes are able to obtain through AE’s innovative program as well as the staff’s ability to motivate and drive their athletes to optimize their athletic ability.”

Through hard work, support from his friends and family, and with the commitment of NIKE and SPARQ, Erik has taken what was once a dream and turned it into reality.
