Why Do CrossFit?
CrossFit is fast, functional, safe, community based and fun. But most of all effective and efficient. I say “most of all” because those two words far and away sum up why someone would do CrossFit. The two words are often interchanged and misused. However, looking at their definitions…
Effective (adj.): Adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result. Efficient (adj.) Performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort.
…One can see why these words are perfect to answer this question. CrossFit deals with functional movements and helps improve on ten physical tasks (endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy) that everyone from a professional athlete to an elderly person needs for optimal overall health and performance in life.
CrossFit classes on average are an hour long and consist of constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements. These attributes of load, distance, and speed at a high intensity help maximize and accomplish results fast. Why would someone do CrossFit? Simply put, because it works.
